What am I seeing? Serviceberry

100_1159Serviceberry: Utilitarian name, showy shrub.

Whenever you can get three-season interest out of a shrub, it gets a gold star in my book. Spring flowers, fall color and berries that birds love

Native and cultivated serviceberry (Amelanchier) varieties can grow to more than 25 feet, but ‘Regent’ serviceberry tops out at 6 feet and still provides the spring flowers, fall color and berries that birds love, as well as a nice, treelike shape. ‘Autumn Brilliance’ is popular and gets to 25 feet. You can see the native varieties blooming all over the place right now.
